Eight Months Old

Charlie now weighs over 19lbs!  He is a little chunker, and loves his bottle and his food.  He is eating three meals a day now, and taking two good naps usually each day (when I am lucky!).  He continues to know no stranger, and will play with anyone who is willing to give him their attention.  What a good boy he is!

This was the month that Charlie learned to crawl.  The first of May, he was still just rocking on all fours, but by my birthday (May 16), he had begun to figure out his own method of crawling: pushing forward with his feet and then catching up with his arms!  This month, we celebrated Mother's Day, my birthday, and Dan and I's sixth anniversary.  It was a great month.  As a surprise to Papa Birk, Charlie and I flew in to Kansas City on my birthday and stayed in Fort Scott for the week, making a few one day trips to visit aunts and uncles.  What a great time we all had being together.   Then, Memorial Day weekend, Grandma and Grandpa Cormode drove through on their way to Kansas.  We had a great evening and morning with them as well.  For as far as we live from the grandparents, we feel so blessed to see them each every so often.  My dear friend Rebecca also came through town that same weekend with her mom, on their way to Maine.  It is nice to be stopping point midway for weary travelers.

"Here, Uncle Joel, let me help you!"

"Look at all the funny faces I can make"

Almost as soon as Charlie began crawling, it seemed he was pulling up to everything in sight, using his newfound mobility to reach greater heights.  I, the Mommy, was not quite ready for this new stage, as I have just made the bottom levels of the house safe.  But he seems to be intent on pushing the envelope...I now call him Mr. Curious, for he wants to touch and hold and look at everything he can possibly his hands on around the house.  Watch out, here he comes!

"I think I can actually stand up..."

"Yep, I can finally reach that mug I have been looking at for months!"

"What are you looking at?"

"I sure do love grabbing whatever is in my reach!"

April Showers has brought May flowers and May GREEN leaves...it is like Ireland here in Kentucky.  We are out at our favorite park, Cherokee Park, as often as possible these days!
